The 1000 Islands and the St. Lawrence Seaway camping region offers a magical wonderland of scenic islands, amazing wildlife and beautiful views. With more than 1800 islands to explore and a chain of recreation spots along the St Lawrence River this region draws campers and vacationers from all over the world.
Here Canada and the United States meet… their cultures blending in the waters of the mighty St. Lawrence and Great Lake Ontario. This area was called the “Garden of the Great Spirit” by the native people who lived, hunted and fished in this region. Today people still claim this gorgeous garden of woods and waters is truly one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
There is an abundance of public and privately owned campgrounds in the 1000 Islands Region, featuring everything from rustic tenting areas to amenity-filled RV parks. More than 15 state parks are located throughout the Thousand Islands Region, most offering camping facilities. While most of the campsites in the region are accessible by automobile, some of these areas are located on islands that are accessible only by boat.
